How do I apply for AgriSETA funding? AgriSETA is a government organization that educates and trains people to create and facilitate opportunities within the agricultural sector in South Africa. So they have the responsibility of developing the skills of the agricultural workforce and meeting the labor demand. AgriSETA stands for Agricultural Sector Education Training Authority, overseen by the Department of Higher Education and Training. In partnership with other stakeholders in agriculture, the organization holds training and educational programmes. Also, part of its activities is to accredit sector-specific training institutions and ensure standards are met. Apart from the programmes, AgriSETA also provides grants, bursaries, apprenticeships, internships, and mentorships. AgriSETA offers bursaries to a certain number of students every academic year. More specifically, it rewards students pursuing their education in the agricultural sector. For the academic year 2022, the AgriSETA Discretionary Grant Application is open to both undergraduate and postgraduate students pursuing agricultural-related degrees. This is the first window of the two-window grant programme. The second window will open after the completion of the first window. In the first window, the bursary value is R39,750 per annum for undergrad students. For postgrad students, the value is R63,600. Not everyone studying in the agricultural sector can avail of this bursary. There are eligibility criteria laid out by AgriSETA that all applicants must meet. Failure to do so will result in the cancellation of the application. Due to a high number of students applying for the bursary, AgriSETA may not consider revisions. The eligibility requirements for AgriSETA bursary 2021-22 are: Must be pursuing an undergrad or postgrad degree in the field of agriculture (Degree, diploma, or certificate) Must be either studying full-time or part-time long-term courses. Short-term courses are not eligible Must be studying at a recognized and accredited college or university in South Africa Mustn’t be working or receiving a salary Must not be receiving funding from any other bursary or scholarship Please note that fulfilling all the criteria does not guarantee you’ll receive the funding. AgriSETA mentions that preference will be given to those who are on the Sectoral Priority Occupations list. Whether or not to award the bursary is at the sole discretion of the organization.
