Thami Ntuli announces his cabinet, moves community safety to his office: New KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thami Ntuli has announced his provincial cabinet that will lead the government of provincial unity. The new provincial executive council comprises a mix of leaders from the IFP, ANC, DA and NFP, a move necessitated by the hung result in the May general election. Newly-sworn in KZN Premier Thami Ntuli revealed the news during his inauguration speech in Pietermaritzburg on Tuesday. Ntuli said crime-fighting was high on his agenda and he would therefore absorb the Department of Community Safety and Liaison into his office. The six women were killed on Monday. Ntuli explained: “Eleven women were travelling in one vehicle from a certain function in Ladysmith and someone came, driving a car and shot at all of them. Six died on the spot.” He further revealed his plans to combat crime in the province. “As a result, I have decided to place Community Safety and Liaison in the Office of the Premier so that I will lead the agenda in fighting crime.” Ntuli announced his cabinet which includes four Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) members, three African National Congress (ANC) members, two Democratic Alliance (DA) members and one member of the National Freedom Party (NFP).
