What cancer did Derek Watts have?

South African celebrity has lost their battle with cancer: Carte Blanche presenter Derek Watts.

On Tuesday, “RIP Derek Watts” topped the Twitter trends following the news of his death.

A statement by Carte Blanche read: “It is with profound sadness that we confirm the passing of Carte Blanche anchor and icon, Derek Watts. He passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, surrounded by loved ones.

“Our heartfelt condolences go out to his wife and children in this time of loss.”

Derek was diagnosed with skin cancer last year, which later spread to his lungs. Things sadly took a turn for the worse when he contracted sepsis in April 2023. Sharing a picture of him battered and bruised in a hospital bed, he posted at the time: “Looks scary but collapsed with suspected stroke in Hoedspruit 14 days ago.
