Real Madrid and Manchester City will play out the latest installment of a burgeoning Champions League rivalry in the semifinals of the 2022/23 competition
The first leg saw Kevin de Bruyne’s strike cancel out Vinicius Jr’s opener at the Santiago Bernabeu on May 9 with the tie now evenly poised ahead of the next week’s Etihad meeting.
City produced an authoritative display over two legs to knock out six-time winners Bayern Munich 4-1, drawing 1-1 at the Allianz Arena after a 3-0 triumph in Manchester the week before.
Madrid were even more comfortable, beating out-of-form Chelsea 2-0 home and again away to cruise into the final four and stay on course for back-to-back titles, and a record 15th overall.
Ahead of the second leg, here’s what’s happened on the previous nine occasions when the Premier League and LaLiga giants faced off in Europe’s top competition.
