Who is Marc Rantseli? Marc Rantseli of the duo MarcAlex has died. The singer’s brother Alex Rantseli confirmed to SABC News on Thursday that Marc died on Wednesday evening, weeks after being admitted to hospital. Marc and Alex shot to fame in the late 1980s with their hit song Quick Quick, which topped South African music charts. Alex revealed his brother had a brain aneurysm and had been in and out of hospital over the past three years. “Marc actually had a brain aneurysm where he lost his balance and things like that, and I think it was pushed by high blood pressure,” he said. “He was no longer the same Marc that you know because his walking was a little bit funny and he was actually not well — but he was OK, he was actually recovered. I can’t say [he was] fully [recovered] but he recovered as much as he could up until two weeks ago.” Alex said his brother was admitted to hospital on October 25 because “there was a lot of pressure in his brain”. The day that Marc died, Alex said he visited him in hospital to check on him “I was with him for a while. I could see something was different this time,” he said. “He was actually at peace last night but the signs were still there that he is still OK — but something felt different.” On social media, tributes to the late star continue to flood the timeline. “Marc Rantseli, by far one of the nicest humans on earth. May his soul rest in peace. Condolences to his brother Alex his entire family friends and colleagues,” Kgomotso Moeketsi wrote.
